Let me introduce myself….
Hey there, I’m Ellen! As an architect and home renovator in St. Louis, I've seen it all: cramped bathrooms begging for expansion, kitchens stuck in the 80s, and living spaces yearning for a breath of fresh air. My mission? To help homeowners like you transform those dreams into reality. I bring my architectural expertise and boundless enthusiasm to every project, ensuring you get a functional and aesthetically pleasing space that fits your budget and lifestyle.
Residential design and construction runs deep in my family. My father and grandfather were both skilled carpenters, building custom homes in St. Louis for decades. I vividly recall reviewing the plans for a fancy Clayton high rise condo over our kitchen table in Byrnes Mill. I was always fascinated by the way my dad could transform a home with his masterful skills. I would watch him for hours as he tackled everything from installing custom millwork and turning beautiful wooden bowls on the lathe, to adding an entire addition onto our house - all while being able to do a handstand on the roof! I was so inspired by his work that I started to experiment with my own design projects. At first, I was just moving furniture around and painting my room, but soon I started to take on more challenging projects.
Owning a home is a dream for many, and a significant part of that dream is the ability to personalize your living space to reflect your unique style and preferences. While hiring professional contractors for renovations can be a convenient option, there's something truly special about tackling DIY home renovation projects yourself. Over the years, I've developed a wide range of skills in many aspects of home renovation, from carpentry and plumbing to electrical work and interior design. I’m in no way an expert, I just keep learning and trying new things. Oh, the pipe broke… better learn some plumbing! With each project I complete, I grow more and more confident in my abilities.
What’s Next
Embark on a journey with me as I transform our 1980s house into a beautiful home. Together, we will knock down walls, rearrange the layout, build custom furniture and cabinets, and add the finishing touches of paint and home décor. I'm excited to share my renovation experiences, including the triumphs and setbacks, in the hope that you'll find inspiration along the way.
